Woman Suspected of Destroying Globe Delivery Truck is a Boston Herald Dream Villian

Meet Vivencia Bellegarde: a suspected welfare-scamming, voodoo cursing, drunk driver.

The woman suspected of driving under the influence when she ran a Boston Globe delivery truck off the highway in spectacular fashion Monday morning is, it turns out, a caricature of the Boston Herald villain.

As you can see on the horrifying video below, Vivencia Bellegarde was traveling north on I-93 when she struck the truck, pushing it over the guardrail, and sending it on a 40 foot plunge to the exit ramp below. The truck driver, amazingly, is expected to survive. Bellegarde refused a field sobriety test. She has a five page driving record including a previous OUI arrest. This is already outrageous. But wait…

If the Boston Herald publisher were to dig up Charles Dickens and hire him to write a caricature of a Boston Herald reader’s boogeyman, Dickens would probably come up with an unemployed, Cadillac-driving Haitian woman who scams state welfare programs, puts voodoo curses on white people, and has multiple OUI arrests. Now, the Herald has the details of the arrest from a police report and they are, well, exactly that:

“I questioned her as to why she had other peoples (sic) EBT cards and she
began screaming that I was a ‘dumb (expletive)’ for paying for food when she gets it for free,” trooper William Kokocinski wrote of Vivencia
Bellegarde, 25, of Everett, noting she had her own electronic benefits transfer card and also the cards of two other people.

“She repeatedly called me a racist and told me she was from Haiti and she was gonna ‘put voodoo on my white (expletive),’” Kokocinski wrote. “(She) told me to Google her name and find out who I was ‘(expletive) with’. She further explained that her name translated means ‘give life take life’ and she emphasized ‘TAKE LIFE’. She then shouted that she was ‘coming for all you white (expletives).’”

Brazen EBT card scamming, cursing white people … The only way this could get a Herald reader even more foamy at the mouth is if she were somehow an employee of the Patrick administration. That’s not to say it isn’t incensing to all of us. But for the Boston Herald,  which hunts down welfare scams with the fervor of Dwight Shrute, this is just too perfect. (It’s just a bonus that she probably disrupted delivery to several Boston Globe subscribers.) This is your day, Herald. You do you.

what is truly outrageous is NOT that the Herald is accurately reporting this incident and others it exposes, but that you would implicitly criticize (or snidely mock) the Herald for being the only Boston media outlet (certainly not the Globe, WGBH, or Boston Magazine) that would have the courage to inform the shrinking percentage of hard working and tax paying citizens of MA of the multiple examples (for which this one is textbook) of abuses of immigration, welfare, criminal law and EBT largesse that are tolerated by this administration and its minions

Oh, the Globe is reporting all that stuff now, on the web, 6 or 7 hours after the Herald had it. Another great example of why this town needs two newspapers to keep each other honest. I think that’s what Mr. Randall is trying to grudgingly admit, though it’s sort of buried underneath all that cosmopolitan snark…

  • FrancisMcManus

The Boston Herald has for years sensationally associated racial minorities, lone wolf terrorists, and immigrants with crime and food stamps on its front page.

It is truly disgusting. How the Boston Herald made a domestic terrorist the face of welfare: http://ow.ly/nIZJZ

Get her out of the U.S.Why haven’t authorities deported her?

  • agingcynic

Because once you’ve seen one Herald reader, you’ve seen them all, right?

  • penucheBro420

“That’s not to say it isn’t incensing to all of us.”

Really? You don’t seem incensed. She’s not a caricature, there are tons of people just like her taking advantage of the state being liberal and kind to the disadvantaged.

  • duncan

Are you kidding me? The snarky tone of your article is absolutely outrageous given the problem that Massachusetts has with spending. They just hit us with a $500M tax increase on top of the 25% sales tax increase a few years ago. It is not a problem of revenue, it’s the poor use of it. This woman is absolutely the poster child for waste and fraud in our state government. For you to attack the Herald for actually pointing out the abuse in the system is beyond comprehension. This is the third criminal in three months scamming the few remaining hard working taxpayers.

  • ObviouslyAnon

Any time someone is arrested, the Herald checks if they have an EBT card.

    • stwild

The Herald didn’t need to check. She was found with 3 EBT cards on her. Only one was hers…: )

  • Caustic_Avenger

I saw this, clicked on the author’s name, and was very surprised to see a picture of a guy that makes Michael J. Fox look like Lil’ Weezy.

He went to Yale, so he’s presumably smart enough to know that he’s white. Why wouldn’t he take a little umbrage at the fact this perpetrator of EBT fraud and drunk driving assailed an arresting officer with racial epithets, specifically ones against white people?

My point is that I find it virtually inconceivable that an Ivy League graduate who apparently writes for a living is actually willing to stand upon a laughably flaccid premise – that the Herald staff would naturally find her transgressions objectionable – in order to sling mud at the Herald.

Al Sharpton wouldn’t even touch this one, Eric.

This article must be the most ineffectual attempt at obsequious liberal kow-towing that has ever transpired. It’s disturbingly analogous to a scene in which a game show audience member loudly heckles contestants for getting the right answer before he is summarily ejected from the studio:

“Oh, yeah, dude! Pfft. Reeeeeally good answer. You’re a freakin’ genius! No really, you are! Wait, are you gonna give another right answer? I wish I was you! You’re tooooo awesome!” (insert slow clap here).

At the expense of dignity and the perception of his personal ethics, “Eric The White” engages in an embarrassing display of ironically self-derisive snark that, amazingly, doesn’t register in a mind of what should be highly intellectual caliber to be worthy of ridicule.

Somewhere in Connecticut, a professor has reeled back onto a chair, having felt a great disturbance in the “Journalism Force”, as if something terrible has happened.

Don’t be so pompous..She hates you as much as any conservative Republican. Only difference is Republicans know when people are abusing the system. Democrats think they are helping. Just like they did back in the days of slavery.

  • Cris Allen

An obviously imbalanced person attacks an asset of one of your competitors, so all you can do is fantasize about how another one of your competitors might cover it. Really? Was this piece written in a fifth grade creative writing class?

  • DrColostomy

This black azzed gutter ho is a CLASSIC Boston Globe “victim”. You white aholes that vote democRAT are supporting this trash, fools!

  • John Liozeris

Is immigration going to give her a new Caddy?

  • dino09

No, she is not that unusual at all. Fraud is rampant. Democrats use social service goodies like welfare, food stamps, section 8, etc., to buy votes. This woman is THE FACE of the Democrat’s social policies. Republican so-called conservatives also support an orgy of ‘welfare’ for big business and special interest groups, as do the Democrats…which gets them campaign cash.

Driving a caddy SUV, multiple EBT cards on her person, bragging about how she gets away with screwing The System, calling the cop a racist [!], multiple past OUI convictions, and she’s far from the only one. The truck driver is lucky to be alive. She could have easily killed people. She may well do so in the future.

  • Fake_Name2

Dont’cha hate it when stereotypes are real?

  • Frank Burns

Have they put that thing down yet? I mean, for the love of God, put it out of our misery already.
