Boston Police and homicide detectives are investigating the circumstances stemming from a performance held at the House of Blues on Tuesday night after one person reportedly died, and two others remain in serious condition, as a result of apparent drug overdoses.

According to Boston Police officials, at about 12:45 a.m. Wednesday, during the Zedd concert at the venue, officers responded to a radio call for an overdose on Landsdowne Street, where the concert was being held. “As always, the safety of our guests is our top priority.  Last evening, there were guests at our venue in need of medical treatment during the performance. They were assisted by Boston EMS as well as on-site emergency medical personnel and then transported to local medical facilities,” said Jay Anderson, the marketing and public relations manager for Live Nation, the company that owns the House of Blues. “One individual has unfortunately passed away and our thoughts go out to their family and friends for their loss.  This matter is under investigation and we are continuing to working with local officials.”

Zedd is a German-based producer and DJ that plays electronic dance music, or EDM. He was scheduled to play two back-to-back Boston shows for the first stop on his “Moment of Clarity” world tour.

The second show was cancelled, however, so that officials could continue their investigation. “In light of last night’s tragic events and an active police investigation, tonight’s performance by Zedd has been canceled.  Our thoughts are with the families and friends suffering now,” Anderson said in a statement.

Zedd addressed the issue, and apologized for the sudden cancellation. “Love and respect to those in pain right now. Our hearts go out to you,” he said on Twitter.

Police said on arrival Wednesday, after calls about the apparent overdoses, officers were informed that three individuals, unknown to each other, had been transported to Beth Israel Hospital. Police said the victims appeared to be suffering from an overdose from an unknown substance.

A female, whose name has not been released by officials, was pronounced dead after being rushed to the hospital. Another adult female and adult male are both currently listed in serious condition at Beth Israel. The death resulted in officials calling in homicide detectives to investigate. Anyone with information is encouraged to call detectives at (617) 343-4470.
