Brawling Jets Fan Will Have to Take an Online Class before Returning to Stadium
Charges have been handed down after video of a Jets fan punching a female Patriots fan went viral.
Police handed down charges of simple assault and disorderly conduct to Jets fan Kurt Paschke, he with the violent past and the Wayne Chrebet jersey, as well as Amanda MacDowell, 25, of Marlborough; Jaclyn Nugent, 26, of Boston; and David James Sacco, 28, of Boston, the New Jersey Star-Ledger reports. Video of the four people brawling at MetLife Stadium after the Jets’ narrow win against the Patriots was posted to Deadspin.com, after which it quickly went viral and caught the attention of the Jets and law enforcement.
The Patriots fans, while not the focus of the video or the headlines because they didn’t get in as obvious a punch as Paschke did, do not come off well, either in the video or in the newspaper’s report:
MacDowell and Nugent kicked and punched Paschke in the body and head. Then Paschke, who was wearing a Wayne Chrebet Jets jersey in the widely publicized video of the incident, punched Nugent in the face. Nugent appeared to be wearing Patriots attire. And then Sacco struck Paschke in the face.
Just lovely behavior all around, guys. Beyond the legal issues, the four face the additional punishment of being banned from MetLife Stadium. This, we imagine, is mostly an issue for Paschke, a Jets superfan. The Jets have said that he and the other will have to work for the privilege of being readmitted by taking an online conduct course, submitting a written apology, and requesting permission to be allowed to attend events at the stadium.
