New Poll: Marty Walsh Leads the Mayoral Race

Walsh is leading by seven percentage points, according to a UMass-Amherst poll.

The Boston mayoral race has completely flipped since the preliminary election with Marty Walsh poised to win next Tuesday’s race, according to a new poll from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.

“It looks like a totally different race than it was a few weeks ago if these numbers are to be believed,” says Ray LaRaja, UMass-Amherst political science professor.

Walsh now leads by seven percentage points, 47%-40%, with 14 percent of likely voters undecided.

High-profile endorsements from Charlotte Golar-Richie, Linda Dorcena Forry, and others — has reversed Connolly’s one-time advantage among women. Walsh now leads among women 49%-35%, according to the new poll.

Walsh also holds a 48%-42% lead among non-white voters, and also leads with young voters, liberals, and even parents with children in Boston schools—all battlegrounds Connolly is expected to need to win.

Higher-income voters favor Connolly, but Walsh holds a two-to-one lead in households with income below $50,000.

The poll was taken from October 22 to 26, and has a margin of error of +/- 5.9%.

We know from the prelim that polls mean nothing. The boots on the ground and GOTV efforts will win this election.

It’s okay. I’m sure Connolly has some anonymous negative mailings ready to go like he did against Steve Murphy in 2007 that will turn the tide. Connolly will tell you it’s okay to send out anonymous mailings because it isn’t against state law, then he’ll whine about negative campaigning.

He’s losing? How can that be, hasn’t he taught children from every corner of Boston? And doesn’t his daughter goes to the Trotter School on Humboldt Ave in Roxbury?Well, this sounds like a perfect time to mention that time Meg had cancer and how good John was about it. Maybe slam some negative campaigning from 2 weeks ago too? New Balance built a T station, BTW! Sounds like the S.S. Clumpy is going down in flames!! Look out Newton, he’s your problem soon!

Going out on a limb here and guessing this not the actual “Steve Abraira” formerly of the BFD.
