It’s Ask Bernstein Anything Day!

Our contributing editor is taking your questions about local and state politics.

“It is not every question that deserves an answer,” Publius wrote. I disagree! (Although I do think Proverbs is onto something with “Answer a fool according to his folly.”)

So go ahead and Ask Me Anything, and I will do my best to provide my best information, analysis, prognostication, punditry, rumor-mongering, or speculation over the course of the day.

You can leave your questions as comments to this post, or email them to me at David@DavidSBernstein.com.

I’m looking forward to it!

Is the historical weakness of the Boston City Council just an example of the weakness of City Councils in Massachusetts or are is the Boston CC just particularly weak. In a related note, can the Boston City Council do anything about it regardless of whether the mayor lets them?

Here’s a question…why are we even having special elections in Reinstein’s and O’Flaherty’s districts? When Vincent Pedone resigned his Worcester district early January 2012, the speaker refused to call for a special to replace him. Yet two Suffolk reps whose districts happen to border the speaker’s resign the January of the next election year, and they don’t have to go the year without representation.

The special election for Katherine Clark’s state senate seat can be traced all the way back to John Kerry vacating his US senate seat almost a year ago — will someone who is not currently a public office holder eventually win one of these special elections and break the cycle or will it just go on forever and ever?
