The Beckett Bowl celebrity bowling tournament was held on 07/10 at the Town Line Ten Pin bowling alley in Malden to support the Josh Beckett Foundation. Guests included David Ortiz, Jacoby Ellsbury, Jon Lester, Tim Wakefield, Mike Lowell, Coco Crisp, Glen "Big Baby" Davis, Boston Bruins Patrice Bergeron, Milan Lucic, Shawn Thornton, Mark Stuart, Jeremy Reich, Aaron Ward; New England Patriots Steve Gostowski, Matt Cassel and former Patriot Max Lane; New England Revolution stars Matt Reis and Taylor Twellman and many more. The post-event party was hosted by Darryl "DMC" McDaniels of Run DMC.
 
On 07/05, Tanglewood celebrated the opening of the BSO's 2008 season with a gala and performance of Berlioz's opera Les Troyens, under the direction of BSO James Levine.
 
On 06/29, the Charlotte Saltonstall Bigham Memorial Fund held its first ever "Baby's Got Back" benefit fundraiser. The fund was established by Sukey Forbes Bigham and Michael Bigham in memory of their daughter Charlotte who died suddenly at the age of six. The fundraiser featured the "Yummy Mummy Hip Hop Dance Troupe" performance. Photos by Roger Farrington.
 
On 05/22, Ken Casey of Dropkick Murphys hosted the McGreevy’s Grand Re-Opening Party. The night was celebrated with the reopening of the legendary pub considered by many as "America’s first sports bar" and the "Birthplace of Red Sox Nation." Casey’s closest friends and family members were on hand, including a host of local celebrities from the area like Jonathan Papelbon of the Red Sox and Shawn Thorton of the Boston Bruins. On 06/22, the Myopia Polo Club in Hamilton, MA celebrated the beginning of the 120th season of summer polo matches with the Taj Boston Cup. Hosted by the Taj Boston Hotel with special thanks to Champagne Louis Roederer and Land Rover Sudbury, more than 100 guests attended the VIP Pavilion luncheon overlooking the fast-paced action.
