Junot Diaz at the Boston Latino TV Access Awards

Pulitzer Prize winning novelist Junot Diaz was awarded the "Hennessy Privilege Award" on 6/24 at the Boston Latino TV Access Awards. This honor also celebrated Diaz's appointment as the first Latino to serve on the Pulitzer Prize Board, where he will be responsible for the selection of eligible candidates. The Hennessy Privilege Award was created in 2003 to honor those who have made extraordinary contributions to their communities, either through leadership, service or the arts. Previous honorees have included Andy Garcia, George Lopez and Lupe Ontiveros. Diaz, who is of Dominican/American descent, won the 2008 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao and also teaches creative writing at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
