20th Annual Red Sox Wives Can & Cash Drive

On August 5 and 6, 2011, Red Sox Wives Krista Lackey, Lindsay Buchholz, Stephanie Wheeler, Katie Miller, Cynara McDonald, Catherine Panagiotopoulous (Varitek), and Isabel Mendoza collected 5,284 pounds of food and $23,226.09 outside Fenway Park for The Greater Boston Food Bank. The Wives' efforts, which resulted in the distribution of 62,688 nutritious meals to those in need, were part of the 20th Annual Red Sox Wives Can & Cash Drive to benefit The Food Bank to end hunger in eastern Massachusetts. Throughout the last 20 years, the Can & Cash Drive has raised nearly $250,000 in cash donations and collected more than 160,000 pounds of food for The Food Bank. The Greater Boston Food Bank distributes more than 34 million pounds of food and grocery products annually to approximately 550 member hunger-relief agencies and 30 Food Bank direct service programs throughout eastern Massachusetts in a dedicated partnership to end hunger in our region.
