On 10/30 Hurricane O'Reilly's hosted a book signing with "The Sports Guy" Bill Simmons. Over 400 fans came out for the event, where the ESPN.com sportswriter signed copies of his new book, The Book Of Basketball, before the Boston Celtics game.

On 10/29 the Seaport Hotel hosted the 18th Annual Leading Women Awards Breakfast, the Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts’ signature fundraising event. The event brought over 525 women and other members of the greater Boston business community together to celebrate women leaders, honor awardees, and support the Girl Scout mission. These Leading Woman Awardees exemplify the Girl Scout mission to build women of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.

Boston magazine and the Seaport Hotel hosted a luncheon on 10/28 to commemorate the November issue, which is dedicated to examining the life and legacy of Senator Edward M. Kennedy. MSNBC political host Chris Matthews penned the opening essay of the section. He shared his thoughts and personal experiences with the Kennedy's with 130 of Boston's business, civic and corporate leaders. The November issue is on newsstands now.

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) New England hosted its third annual "Women of Valor" luncheon on 10/20, honoring Lois E. Silverman, the first woman chair of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. The event was held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Boston. The purpose of this event was to celebrate womens' leadership in the ADL and Boston communities, as well as continue to create a woman's based initiative to broaden ADL's reach to cultivate philanthropic and civic minded women.
