Well Thread

Art by Linda Behar

“The camera has always been my sketchbook,” says the Lexington artist Linda Behar, who used an image of a vibrant peony, dewy from a spring shower, as the inspiration for this embroidered masterpiece. Created by printing photographs on fabric and then layering different-colored stitches side by side or on top of one another, Behar’s works of art have made their way into the permanent collections at the MFA and the Peabody Essex Museum. “I love the feel of the thread in my fingers,” she says. “The repetitive motion is my meditation.”
