It’s impossible to have a lousy time on Nantucket. New Englanders have known this for centuries, and now, the rest of the country agrees.

This week, TripAdvisor named the Nantucket Hotel & Resort the top hotel in the country. The accolade, called a Travelers’ Choice award, is based off of the travel site’s millions of reviews collected over the past year. The majority of the Nantucket Hotel & Resort’s reviews highly favored the historic four-season hotel.

It seems visitors to Massachusetts are huge fans of Nantucket, because the island’s Union Street Inn received the Travelers’ Choice award for the best small hotel in America. Overall, a total of seven properties around the state received recognition from TripAdvisor, including places like the 8 Dyer Hotel in Provincetown and the Captain David Kelley House in Centerville.

Nantucket’s most highly praised destination beat out top-rated hotels in Charleston, South Carolina, Mountain Village, Colorado, and other cities. The family-owned Nantucket Hotel & Resort has been celebrated for its luxurious guest rooms, classic decor, and on-site fitness classes. Plus, every afternoon, guests are invited to snack on cookies and fresh lemonade in the lobby.

“My first visit to Nantucket won’t be my last. I can’t wait to go back,” writes a recent guest. “Our room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable.”

TripAdvisor notes the most affordable times to visit the Nantucket Hotel & Resort are in January and March. Guess that means it’s time to get booking.
