Have you ever wished you could sip tea in your very own Japanese tea house? This property for sale in Woods Hole could make that dream a reality—if you have $1,995,000 to spare, that is.

In addition to the three-bedroom contemporary home on the market at 58 Gansett Road, the two-acre lot comes with an authentic tea house. It was brought from Japan to Cape Cod and restored by a local chashitsu (translated to “tea house”) expert named Toshio Abiko.

The small wooden abode is divided into three rooms and is fully plumbed. In traditional tea house style, the structure features shoji screen windows and sliding doors, tatami mat floors, a subdued palette, and a tokonoma alcove for displaying art. Outside, there’s a small garden.

“Typically when I’m showing it, I have people take their shoes off,” says listing agent Irene O’Connell with William Raveis Real Estate. “It feels like you’re in Japan, it really does.”

The house has all the essentials for an authentic Japanese tea ceremony. “It’s really special, unique, and beautiful,” says O’Connell. “It has a magical feel to it.”

Both the main home and tea house are tucked away in a woodsy area at the corner of Cape Cod. The property has access to a private dock and a sandy beach overlooking Quissett Harbor.
