Simply stunning small goods handmade with care, just for you—that’s the NATEMADE credo. Nathan Tia crafts premium leather, recycled barnwood, and metal into sleek and wonderfully functional wallets, keychains, dog leashes and just about anything else that inspires him.

NATEMADE has no inventory or support staff—just Tia, who handcrafts every piece to order in his Fort Point loft. And that’s exactly the point.

“Everything is made to order, which makes it crazy on my end, but I like that,” Tia said. “I dont want this to grow to the point [where I] have to hire or have inventory, that’s not the idea behind NATEMADE. Made by me, no one else. I dedicate the time to make [those] pieces for that person, and it feels like [it is] made for them personally, not branded.”

A marketing and advertising professional by day, Tia carves precious time out each week to dedicate to his passion, a hobby-turned-side project. Tia put his collection of vintage leather hand tools to work two years ago to craft himself a new bi-fold wallet—and so NATEMADE began. He’s been following its natural evolution ever since, perfecting the classics (his range of wallets) and exploring new offerings (like his Wine & Glass stand, below) whenever a moment of inspiration strikes. Or, like in the case of his widely popular Rope & Leather Dog Leash (as seen below), to create just the right piece for his 6-month old Thai Ridgeback puppy, Kiba—now the official NATEMADE leash tester (also below).

“I love the leash a lot, I use it everyday,” Tia said. “I wanted to make a leash for my dog, that’s how it started. I make things I would use myself.”
