Early this spring, chef Rachel Klein took over the reigns at the Mandarin Oriental’s fine-dining restaurant, Asana. Things move slowly there, it seems—Klein’s new menu is only now going into effect, but we can cut her some slack since she had to additionally revamp the room service and banquet options at the hotel in addition to the cuisine at Asana.

Her new offerings include fun starters like lobster beignets and pan-roasted foie gras with rosewater funnel cake, and more approachable entrees (think chicken with corn “three ways” and roasted Atlantic cod with baby carrots). There’s also a steakhouse component, with cuts like a serious wagyu tomahawk ribeye for two, to be paired with appealing sides like stout-tempura onion rings and creamed corn with Chinese sausage.
