What to Expect at Bees Knees Supply Co., Coming Soon to Fort Point

Jason Owens' new South Boston gourmet food shop will have Batch ice cream by the scoop, and much, much, more.

Fort Point is a neighborhood that’s been long promised to deliver as a gourmand destination. There’s Flour II and Barbara Lynch’s mini-empire, of course, but other than that it’s been relatively (and frustratingly) slow-moving. Things are finally starting to change, however, with the openings of Tavern Road from Louis DiBiccari (Storyville, minibar) and Asian gastropub Blue Dragon from Ming Tsai (Blue Ginger).

And today, we bring you details of Bees Knees Supply Co., an exciting gourmet food emporium coming later this fall (by Thanksgiving is the current goal) from Jason Owens (of nearby American Provisions and Southern-fried spot M3 in Davis Square).

The space will carry local produce, cheeses, housemade charcuterie and pickles, and on-the-go prepared foods, plus offer an on-site CSA program. A fully-loaded open kitchen will be a hub for a cafe and patio  (a full-time chef will be on the premises in charge of the prepared food and takeout dinner offerings) cooking classes, demos, and special wine dinners and tastings. And for those with a sweet tooth, it gets even better: JP-based ice cream company Batch will be available by the scoop (!!), while South Boston-based Blue Tierra Chocolates will be merging with Bees Knees to be the exclusive on-site chocolatier.

In short, it’s a massive coup for the Fort Point area (and, really, anyone that knows how to use public transportation). We’ll keep you posted as we learn more.
