Ken Oringer, Jamie Bissonnette, Joanne Chang, and More to Raise Funds for Hurricane Relief

At an exclusive, $500-a-head dinner, guests can eat white truffles, foie gras, and lobster for a cause.

Boston-area chefs banding together for a cause? Luckily, that’s a phrase I’ve typed many a time on this blog. And now, in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, when many restaurants in Lower Manhattan are still without power and bleeding money, toques like Ken Oringer, Jamie Bissonnette, Tony Maws, Michael Serpa, Joanne Chang, and more will be throwing an extravagant fundraising dinner at Mike’s City Diner in the South End this Wednesday.

It’s a steep $500-a-head for the 50-person event, but you’ll be getting a hell of a lot for your money: white alba truffles, lobster, foie gras, and oysters will all factor into the menu (still being finalized), for one thing, plus there’s the knowledge that your money is directly going to the Red Cross, and will be earmarked to benefit NY-area restaurants.

Despite the price, we have a feeling this will sell out fast. The dinner is at 7 p.m. this Wednesday (there will be one seating only), and you can email tororestaurant@gmail.com to book a spot. See below for the full roster of participating chefs (each will be contributing a course, and we’re told there may be “additional surprises” as well).
