Union Square Donuts to Debut on Valentine’s Day

The Somerville shop will be offering a slew of glazed, yeasted treats very, very, soon.

You will be able to eat these

Late last year, Eater reported the exciting news that Somerville may be getting its own gourmet doughnut shop, dubbed Union Square Donuts. We’re able to confirm that this is not only the case, but that the shop will be opening quite soon: Valentine’s Day, to be exact. According to Heather Schmidt, the pastry mind behind the doughnuts (the concept is in collaboration with Josh Danoff of Culinary Cruisers), the storefront will be located at 201 Somerville Ave., in front of the Kitchen Inc. shared culinary kitchen (which Schmidt and Danoff call home base), and will be open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Thursday-Sunday.

As for flavors? For round one, Schmidt says to expect yeasted doughnuts in varieties like chocolate-chipotle, honey-dipped with toasted almonds, and maple with candied bacon. For Valentine’s Day, there will be an appropriately pink rosewater-infused flavor.

With Stacked (from No. 9 Park cook Stephanie Cmar) also on the way, it’s a good time to be a doughnut fan.
