First Bite: Tavern Road in Fort Point

There’s nothing simple about the new Fort Point restaurant from brothers (and Sel de La Terre alums) Louis and Michael DiBiccari. Hip-hop blares from the speakers. Street-art-inspired murals cover the walls (the place is named for the owners’ late uncle, a sculptor who had a studio on Tavern Road, near the MFA). The funky mix coalesces around a sophisticated, creative menu of small plates and entrées ordered mix-and-match style with à la carte side dishes—think lemony spring chicken stuffed with weisswurst ($19), and spaetzle with Gruyère and cherry peppers ($6). And then there’s the inventive cocktail list, which will soon feature beverages dreamed up by notable bartenders from across the country.
