With the news that MBTA passengers will soon be able use the Assembly Square T Station on September 2, Assembly Row seems to be following suit, with slated restaurants now opening one after the other. Next up, Legal on the Mystic, the newest Legal Sea Foods one-off, which will officially open on September 2. The casual bar-centric concept will be Legal president Roger Berkowitz’s seventh brand in the Legal Sea Foods group, a chain of restaurants that also includes the newly opened Legal Oysteria in Charlestown.

Executive chef Rich Vellante and restaurant chef Shane Queiros have developed one of Legal’s more casual menus with plenty of shared plates, salads, pizzas, sandwiches, and tacos. These include a white clam pizza with pancetta and arugula; mesquite smoked barbecue ribs; blackened swordfish tacos topped with avocado, pickled cabbage, and chipotle mayo; and starters like fried pickles and cauliflower with “kung pao” dipping sauce.

The main focus at Legal on the Mystic’s 7,100 square foot space is the 90-seat bar, which will feature 15 signature cocktails and a menu divided into four categories: house specialties, sours, cocktails, and highballs. Legal on the Mystic will utilize hand-squeezed juices and an extensive selection of premium spirits, including  two exclusive offerings: Eagle Rare 10 single barrel bourbon and El Dorado’s five-year rum. VP of Beverage Operations, Sandy Block, will offer 40 wines by the glass and 17 wines by the half bottle. There will be eight beers on draft and several more by the bottle in a cooler that lines the open dining room.

Legal on the Mystic will offer over 100 seats in the dining room, but the draw is sure to be the 36-seat patio—covered by a 20-foot tulip umbrella—overlooking the Mystic River. The open-air dining space is accessible through large garage doors, which are a nod to the Ford Motor assembly plant after which Assembly Square is named. Legal on the Mystic will be open for lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday from 11 to 1 a.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Below is a look at the menu:
