Sycamore co-owners Dave Punch and Shane Smyth have finally put a name to their “East Asian soul food” concept in Newton, Little Big Diner. The 695-square-foot restaurant, located at 1247 Centre Street, will feature a menu with an amalgam of influences from Korean, Japanese, Chinese, and Hawaiian cuisines, including tuna poke, salt and pepper shrimp buns, izakaya-inspired small plates, and rice bowls dressed with grilled pork belly and chicken katsu.

Joining the Sycamore duo at Little Big Diner is Alison Hearn, previously of Myers + Chang and Hustlecat, and executive chef Daniel Scott (Sycamore, Blue Ginger), who says he’ll be drawing heavily from his Korean background. The 19-seat “fast and casual” diner fast & casual, will also feature an extensive draft cocktail program helmed by Sycamore bar manager Scott Shoer.
