Menton unveils its swanky new Gold Bar addition tonight, a collaboration between chef-owner Barbara Lynch, chef de cuisine Scott Jones, executive wine director Cat Silirie, and bar consultant John Gertsen, formerly of Drink. After closing for renovations in early July, frequent BL Gruppo collaborator and designer C & J Katz Studio helped transform the restaurant’s lounge space with glamorous accents like a Giallo Sienna Italian marble-topped bar, gold pendant lights, and banquettes outfitted in metallic leather.

To complement the space’s glitzy aesthetic, Jones will introduce an elevated, whimsical bar menu with dishes like his much-hyped foie gras frankfurter, a tuna tartare with truffles and hearts of palm, and Menton’s signature butter soup with caviar. Echoing the “from elements, into evolution” format of Jones’ tasting menus, Gertsen has developed a timeless list of cocktails ranging from a perfectly-executed Negroni to more playful selections like his Italian Greyhound with Punt e Mes, grapefruit, and salt. A list of wines hand-selected by James Beard Award-winning executive wine director Cat Silirie includes a carefully curated selection of small grower champagnes, red and white burgundies and sherry by the glass.
