Wahlburgers, the Emmy-nominated reality show starring Mark, Donnie, and chef Paul Wahlberg, just got picked up for another two seasons on A&E, and the namesake burger chain it chronicles will also remain in the spotlight for another few years. Wahlburgers plans to add between 100 and 150 new locations globally within five years, Business Insider reported.

Dorchester’s native sons opened the first Boston proper Wahlburgers in Fenway this fall, and a Logan Airport Terminal C counter is on its way. The original Wahlburgers is in Hingham, just down the road from chef Paul’s Italian seafood restaurant and chophouse, Alma Nove. Wahlburgers also opened in Lynnfield earlier this year, and the company currently has stores in Toronto and Coney Island, New York, too.

A Times Square outpost—a block from one of the chain’s top competitors, Shake Shack—opens soon; and locations in Orlando, Las Vegas, Philadelphia, Long Island, and Washington, D.C. are in the works, as well as 20 locations in the Middle East. Eventually, there could be 300 Wahlburgers abroad.

Regarding the massive expansion, the Business Insider article doesn’t shed light on where Wahlburgers is looking at next, but when Mark was in town for the October premiere of the Fenway restaurant, he told Boston his hometown is the main priority.

“It would be amazing to build a business that would last for generations, but most importantly, it’s important for us to start it right here in our own backyard,”  he said. “Whether it be here in Fenway, in Hingham, in Lynnfield, coming up in Dorchester very soon, we want to start really in and around the New England area. We’ve got a lot of other businesses and franchisees out across the country and across different parts of the world, but our main focus right now is in New England.”

Boston has reached out to Wahlburgers’ corporate arm for more specifics on the company’s expansion plans.
