Glass House Debuts in Cambridge

Kendall Square has no shortage of restaurants capable of sating a hungry crowd: Mamaleh’s, the Smoke Shop, Area Four, and so forth. Today, the neighborhood got another new spot: Glass House is now serving cocktails, sandwiches, and New England crudo (of course) in Cambridge.

The restaurant is the newest concept from the Briar Group (Anthem Kitchen + Bar, Ned Devine’s, etc.). Since Cambridge was once a prime spot for glassmaking in the 1800s, the team designed Glass House’s pristine layout with that history in mind. The 6,500 square foot space showcases sleek glass windows on all sides. The restaurant also has a private events area available, as well as a patio outfitted with its own bar.

Manning the kitchen is chef Ben Hennemuth, formerly the executive chef at Anthem in Faneuil Hall. At Glass House, he’s dishing out casual American plates like steak frites, chuck-brisket burgers with tomato jam, and sandwiches like the kimchi turkey Reuben. You can also choose from a locally sourced raw bar of daily fish and oysters. Or, go all-in on the seafood with the Glass House Tower, which comes packed with oysters, lobster, jumbo shrimp, and clams.

For drinks, peruse more than 20 draft beers alongside a curated selection of wines. The cocktail list is also dense, with libations like the Midnight Oil, with rye whiskey, lemon, mint, and ginger liqueur; and the Dodge Dart, a mix of Pimm’s, ginger beer, mint, and lemon.

Glass House is open for lunch and dinner daily, from 11:30 a.m.-1 a.m., so don’t gloss over this eatery.
