A Pop-Up Beer and Wine Bar Returns to the Boston Public Market This Winter

Sip local libations while shopping locally every Thursday and Friday evening beginning this month.

Hey, remember what a great idea it was when the Boston Public Market hosted a beer and wine garden last year? Why should the warmer months have all the fun? Starting next week, winter market shopping is getting boozy, too: The Sip & Shop bar, as it’s dubbed, will pop up at the main entrance of the Boston Public Market every Thursday and Friday evening this winter.

The market’s beverage purveyors, Hopsters Alley and the Massachusetts Wine Shop, are again teaming up to fuel the fun. Hopsters Alley, which sells all manner of New England craft beer and spirits, is tapping kegs of the Newtonian and Comet Citra IPAs, brewed by its sister brewpub in Newton. The Wine Shop will pour a rotating selection of reds, whites, and rosés from local winemakers. Beers will be $6 per pint, and wines will be $8 by-the-glass.

Adults with proper identification, of course, can browse the indoor market with a beverage in hand. If you’re like us, you probably don’t need liquid courage to help you spend your money with the 40-plus local vendors, like Boston Smoked Fish Co., Jasper Hill Farm, and the brand new Finesse Pastries—but we’ll definitely see you Thursday.

Sip & Shop Pop-Up Bar, Thursday and Friday, January 19-March 31, 5-7:30 p.m., Boston Public Market, 100 Hanover St. (bar set up at entrance at Hanover and Congress streets), Boston, 617-973-4909, bostonpublicmarket.org.
