FoMu Alternative Ice Cream is the perfect after-dinner complement to Whole Heart Provisions—the two are neighbors in Allston. And for one day only this week, South End lunch-goers can have a taste of this pair. Whole Heart Provisions is bringing a limited menu of its veggie-focused fare to FoMu’s Tremont Street location this Friday, October 13.

From 11 a.m.-2 p.m., find the Miso (roasted broccoli, smashed cucumber, edamame, shaved brussels sprouts, red cabbage slaw, sesame crunch, orange miso dressing) and Viet-style (roasted broccoli, smashed cucumber, blistered green beans, cured tomato, basil, peanut crumble, spicy peanut dressing) bowls, with a couple add-ons, including miso BBQ tofu. FoMu will also have Whole Heart’s signature seared avocado snack this Friday.

While Whole Heart has done a number offsite catering events, the lunchtime pop-up is its first time joining forces with another restaurant, says communications manager Meghan Goodwin. At an event like Boston Calling, it’s great introducing new faces to chef Rebecca Arnold’s bold, plant-based bowls. But in those situations, food is often the afterthought, not the reason for someone’s visit, Goodwin says. “This is an exciting new spot for us to be serving up our food and getting our name out there,” she says.

Since they opened Whole Heart in September 2015, co-owners Arnold—who’s cooked at places like Alden & Harlow, Sarma, Mission Chinese Food, and more—and Roxy’s Grilled Cheese owner James DiSabatino have always hinted at more locations down the line. Stay tuned for news on a second brick-and-mortar—but in the meantime, get your healthy, flavorful fix in Allston every day, and in the South End this Friday. And make sure to save room for plant-based pumpkin pie pop tarts, whoopie pies, and ice cream.
