Fast-food favorite Tasty Burger opened its first location outside Massachusetts last year in Washington, D.C., but the company is solidly based in Boston. To strengthen its roots, Tasty Burger just launched a Chef Burgers of Boston series, beginning with a very New England sandwich by native son Matthew Jennings.

The Townsman chef/owner (and Jamaica Plain and Wellesley native) just released his first cookbook, Homegrown: Cooking from My New England Roots (Artisan Books).

“Drawing from my New England upbringing, I designed the Homegrown Burger with Tasty Burger to celebrate a number of ingredients you crave in the Northeast this time of year,” Jennings says in a press release.

That begins with all-natural turkey. The patty is griddled and topped with cheddar cheese, cranberry relish, and piquant Grey Poupon, and sandwiched between a toasted pretzel bun. The specialty burger debuted on November 1, and is available at all Massachusetts locations through Tuesday, Nov. 30.

Tasty Burger’s guest chef series will bring a new menu item to Boston-area locations every other month. Keep up with the specials—and Tasty Burger’s long-awaited North Station location, on track to open by the end of the year—on Instagram.
