The outdoor patio at Henrietta’s Table (One Bennett St., Cambridge, 617-661-5005, henriettastable.com) has happy kids and parents written all over it. Kids’ menus come in the form of coloring books (complete with crayons), and there’s plenty of roaming room. The impressive Sunday brunch allows little ones to go back as often as they desire for waffles and hotcakes served with whipped butter and Massachusetts-made maple syrup; later in the day, the grilled ham sandwich with cheddar cheese and barbecue sauce and the grilled veggie sandwich with olive relish and creamy coleslaw are sure to please parent and child alike.

If the views of Boston Harbor at the Daily Catch (2 Northern Ave., Boston, 617-772-4400, dailycatch.com) aren’t enough to entertain your younger set, let them try their hands at two computer stations that offer virtual tours of the Boston Harbor Islands. When it’s time to eat, fish and chips made with extra-virgin olive oil and clam chowder are friendly basics for every appetite. Kids might also enjoy one of the Daily Catch’s signature dishes: fried calamari served with a lemon garnish, or black pasta made with squid ink served with alfredo, aglio e olio (garlic and oil) or putanesca sauce.

For the teens and tweens in your group who scoff at standard kiddie fare, the bustling sidewalk patio at Parish Café (361 Boylston St., Boston, 617-247-4777, parishcafe.com) is a good place for hipsters to see and be seen. Known for gourmet sandwiches from renowned chefs around town, Parish Café offers a kids’ favorite: grilled cheese (provolone on Texas toast). But the Schlesinger—monterey jack on warmed banana nut bread topped with smoked ham and mango—might be more appropriate for the adventurous eaters in your group.
