People who say diamonds are the way to a girl’s heart obviously have yet to taste the edible treasures at Beacon Hill Chocolates.

With its large front windows overlooking Charles Street, retro brown-and-teal striped walls, and shelves of bite-size chocolate-covered fruit and nuts, the old-fashioned shop is appealing in its own right. But it’s what’s in the case—from the gold-topped honey truffles to the dark chocolate dusted with chili—that lures in chocoholics and hungry passersby.

We love the whimsical treats like the milk chocolate cones filled with chocolate cream and then dipped in dark chocolate. But for something more traditional, try an exclusive Mary truffle, a mix of dark and milk chocolate, almonds, and hazelnuts, from Mary Chocolatier of Belgium. Feeling overwhelmed? Sweet staffers help you narrow your selections, then pack up your loot in boxes printed with photos of bygone Boston.
