Chicago Sandwich Shop Potbelly Heads to Boston

Sometime in the near future, cult-fave Chicago-based sandwich shop Potbelly will be coming to Boston’s Logan Airport, per a post on Craigslist today. A glorified Subway of sorts, the shop focuses on large subs with pretty standard fillings like meatballs with provolone and marinara, tuna with Swiss, and grilled chicken with cheddar.

I’ve never tried Potbelly, I but know plenty of folks who are huge fans of the spot (which currently has 230 locations around the country). If anything, it’s nice to have another decent quick service option before a flight. Are you pumped to see a Potbelly coming to Boston? Let us know in the comments.

I LOVE Potbelly. I live in DC and love to make a trip for a delicious toasted sandwhich. Hopefully it’s in the shuttle side of airport….definitely would be nice (and affordable) for a quick option.

Way better than “a glorified Subway.” Don’t listen to someone who’s never tried it. Love their Oreo malts, and their soups are delicious and homemade daily.

Although the Midway location does not have shakes … so we’ll have to stay tuned.

I agree with Chicagoan way more than a glorified Subway. I actually remember back when there was only one store in Chicago. I actually go out of my way for Potbelly’s!

Calling Potbelly’s a glorified Subway is like calling Neptune Oyster a glorified Long John Silver’s.

I would endure a body cavity search for one of their sandwiches.

Pot Belly’s isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be. While I agree it’s probably more than a glorified Subway, I think there are way better sandwich shop options in Boston…then again, Pot Belly is opening at Logan so maybe a good spot for it since options are limited there.

Oh how I love me some Potbelly! I, a former Chicago resident, would arrive at the airport 2 hours early just to have time for Potbelly. Now if only they add some stores in Boston proper b/c no, Boston does not have good sandwich shops (in my opinion).

please improve the international flight restaurant. i hope they put the potbelly there.

This is great news…Hope they come to NH too. I also thing the subway comparisons are off. It is closer to a real deli with more variety than Subway. They have good soup and chili too.

I left Chicago six years ago and I am still missing Potbelly, like a gaping little hole in my heart. If I could pick one restaurant to bring to Boston, I have always wished it to be Potbelly (though Lou Malnati’s is hard to forget, too)! This is welcome news, although until they expand to outside of the airport, I am going to have to live with the fact that it is so close but yet so far, or start flying Jetblue. Potbelly is the best and as other readers have mentioned, no Boston does NOT have any sandwich places as good as Potbelly. End of story.
