“If Women in White Aren’t in the Picture, They’re Not in the Picture.”

A panel at Rialto today with Jody Adams, Food & Wine’s Dana Cowin, and more will tackle the above statement. We're teaming up with F&W to live-tweet the event.

Six months ago, Time magazine published “The Gods of Food,” the cover story heard round the culinary stratosphere due to its failure to acknowledge the many achievements of female chefs worldwide. Today, one of Boston’s many female powerhouse chefs, Jody Adams of Rialto, hosts Food & Wine Editor-in-Chief Dana Cowin, California-based superchef Traci Des Jardins, and Women Online founder Morra Aarons-Mele for a panel discussion moderated by Harvard’s Victoria Budson entitled “If Women in White Aren’t in the Picture, They’re Not in the Picture.”

The panel marks Adams’s 5th annual “Rialto Women’s Luncheon,” and today’s discussion topic was in part inspired by the fallout of the Time story. It should be an evocative, fascinating conversation—but fear not if you won’t be in attendance. I’ll be live-tweeting the event between 11:45 a.m. and 2 p.m. in collaboration with Food & Wine, so that you’ll be able to follow along on Twitter via myself (@Lmennies), Food & Wine (@Foodandwine), and the hashtag #WomenInWhite.
