For One Night Only, Janky Donuts Actually Serving Something Edible
Tavern Road’s Louis DiBiccari creating gourmet confections to pair with Janky art.
As a part of CREATE Boston, a celebration of art, food, and music, Tavern Road chef Louis DiBicarri will help showcase the artwork of Colin Driesch, Winston MacDonald, Luke O’Sullivan, Dominic Casserly, and Andrew Meers, and their Janky Donuts art exhibit.
Now in its third year, CREATE aims to locate nascent local talent and pair them with some of the city’s best chefs. To complement Janky’s array of wooden confections, DiBiccari will be preparing a cruller “scallop” wrapped in bacon; a donut and rye bread pudding with cherries, apples, and spices; and a “Munchkin” with egg, ham, and cheese.
The five artists from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design became somewhat infamous earlier this summer when they announced they were opening a gourmet doughnut shop, when in reality they were housing an inedible art installation. Janky Donuts has long promised “handmade donuts for your mouth” at their Downtown Crossing gallery. Now, thanks to the chefs at Tavern Road, it looks like they’re finally making good on that pledge.
Wine and beer will also be available at the one-night-only affair.
August 19, 6-10 p.m., Lot F Gallery, 145 Pearl St. #4, Boston; 617-855-9420 or eventbrite.com.
