A First Look at ReelHouse in East Boston
The waterfront restaurant opens Friday with a seafood-focused menu by Marc Orfaly, sweeping views, and (soon) free boat rides.
Want to take a boat to dinner? You’ll soon be able to hop a ride over to ReelHouse, set to open this Friday in The Eddy apartment complex on the East Boston waterfront.
The restaurant from Navy Yard Hospitality, the group behind Charlestown’s Pier 6, features a globally inspired seafood-focused menu by executive chef Marc Orfaly. Dishes include a seafood charcuterie board, shrimp toast, and foie gras dumplings.
“I’m calling it Nantucket meets Miami,” says Orfaly, formerly of Pigalle and The Beehive.
ReelHouse’s nautical-themed interior, with 141 seats, was inspired by classic Riva yachts. Faux olive trees, custom vintage-style booths, and a dramatic ceiling treatment with wooden boat ribs fill the airy space. Large windows offer sweeping views of Boston Harbor and the city skyline.
“A lot of restaurants look out from the city — we’ve got the view of the city,” says Navy Yard Hospitality managing partner Charlie Larner.
A sprawling outdoor patio with an additional 133 seats is expected to open in the coming weeks, and complimentary water shuttle service between Pier 6 and ReelHouse is set to begin in June. The restaurant is also accessible via public water taxi.
“We thought we could activate the waterfront if we put a restaurant over here,” Larner says. “A good time is kind of what we’re looking for.”
A full bar menu will offer an extensive wine list, draft and bottled beers, and cocktails such as frozen mudslides and tiki drinks. ReelHouse will also serve brunch on Saturday and Sunday.
