Ronsky’s at the Street Has a New Wine Bar
Sip spumante at the Chestnut Hill café every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
The Chestnut Hill shopping center, the Street, offers short-term pop-up opportunities to support local businesses like Rancatore’s, OMG Bagels, Kane’s Donuts, and chef Ron Suhanosky’s startup café, Ronsky’s. But the latter was so successful it gained permanent status last year—and that calls for a glass of bubbly. So Ronsky’s at the Street just debuted an evening wine bar.
Suhanosky is a Coppa alum who cofounded Sfoglia on Nantucket and in Manhattan, and earned a James Beard Award for his cookbook, Pasta Sfoglia. With the new, aperitivo-inspired experience at Ronsky’s, he now serves a selection of antipasti every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday evening. For $12, a rotating spread with options like chicken liver pâté, house-made pizza, marinated olives and artichokes, charcuterie, and more comes with a glass of spumante (Italian sparkling wine), and there are other Italian wines and beers available a la carte.
Ronsky’s offers breakfast every day, from breakfast sandwiches, like a black pepper panini with New England Charcuterie breakfast sausage, eggs, and fontina, to the chef’s Nonna’s zeppoli (ricotta doughnuts). For lunch, it serves 10 different panini, salads, and house-made tonics. On Saturday nights, Suhanosky hosts four-course Italian dinners for reservation-only groups of 6-12 guests ($75 per person).
The café debuted in September 2016, and was supposed to close up by the end of that year. But “thanks to Ron’s creativity and ambition, it has transformed into a dining destination and Italian experience that The Street could not do without,” says the property’s general manager, Alana Frey, in a press release. “The Street’s Pop-Up program was created to support the brightest local businesses, and to help them find new levels of success. Ronsky’s fulfilled and then surpassed our greatest expectations.”
The wine bar is open Wednesday-Friday from 5-8 p.m. The café is open daily at 7 a.m., and reservations for Suhanosky’s Saturday night dinners can be made by calling Ronsky’s.
