While Brookline boasts a seemingly infinite number of ethnic digs, until now residents had simply no hope of finding a decent brioche-stuffed lobster. With Lineage, chef Jeremy Sewall has, at last, brought sophisticated seafood to the neighborhood. And the natives are embracing everything, from the spicy ceviche tacos to the cod cheeks—succulent, meaty rounds braised in a smoky tomato sauce studded with sweet raisins. Considering Sewall’s own lineage—he was formerly a chef at Great Bay—it’s no surprise that seafood is the star in this contemporary, if stark, dining room. We adore the tender halibut in a rich ragu of white beans and prosciutto and, of course, that famous stuffed lobster. But we’re equally partial to anything from the wood-burning oven, including a daily grilled pizza and oak-roasted chicken. Note: Lunch/brunch service ends at 2 p.m.; dinner begins at 5 p.m.
