With no offense meant to the Guinness monolith, there are altogether too many Irish pubs in this city. Variety being as spicy as it is, beer drinkers would be the first in line to applaud a Scottish or a Welsh pub braving the market for a change. At least Cornwall's Tavern is an alternative to the Erin-go-bragh mob. The bar itself is pure American—as long as the day, and just as shiny. And while a pasting of Olde Country bar towels do not an English pub make, Fuller's ESB and John Courage on draft do, and this Kenmore Square institution pours both to an adult set of after-work drinkers. You can spot the beer nerds slumped around the Tetley's tap.
