Evenfall faces a serious challenge in its location, which is beside a busy highway. But don’t be fooled by this, or by the humble façade: Evenfall offers whimsical and artistic design, friendly service, and a meal that transcends its surroundings. Past a candlelit lounge lies the dining room, a neat rectangle filled with Chinese lanterns, slate-blue walls, and a poster-size display of flowers cut from poinsettia-red paper. What arrives on the plate could be art as well: The butternut squash bisque creates a spice-flecked orange canvas for a zigzag of green sage oil; an entrée playfully called “Three Little Ducks” presents the succulent bird seared, as confit, and wrapped in a crispy roll atop a pile of winter vegetables; and a 16-ounce steak sprinkled with sea salt is served with a cone of crispy frites. The array of flavors dancing across each plate is equally dazzling, making everything as delicious as it looks. Note: The bar stays open until midnight Monday through Wednesday, and until 1 a.m. Thursday.

Review
I recently visited Evenfall and was immediately blown away upon entering... it is cool, really cool inside. The immediate feel is that someone who knows what is going on designed the place, from the wall colors, to the music, to the furniture, it was fun and original and had a slightly urban feel to it. The music in the lounge is a little louder and the lighting is a little dimmer, just like it should be. I love that! Food wise it was phenomenal we started off with an amazingly creative version of Oysters Rockefeller... (to die for) and had the ribs that everyone seems to be talking about for our appetizers, the ribs are unique and I can see why they are so well known, you just don't get ribs done this way and this good that often... the review in the portsmouth paper was right on. Service was pleasant and non-intrusive, when we had questions she had answers, and was ready with suggestions for dessert and drinks... which by the way, if you want real deal cocktails with homemade infused vodkas or fresh muddled fruit this is the place.... All in all I can see myself showing up to the bar solo to sample the Kobe Burgers when I am hungry... I mean $12 for two kobe burgers and fries??? And I can also see myself sampling from the seasonal entrees when i have time for a full meal... thank you Evenfall!!! I might not miss living in the city that much afterall... cute owner too!
