Chef Josh Ziskin opened La Morra after he spent six months cooking in—you guessed it—La Morra, Italy. Housed in a two-story space with exposed brick, plenty of windows, and framed Italian posters, La Morra offers authentic food in a family-friendly atmosphere that suits its Brookline location. Foodies will love the cicchetti (bite-size dishes from Venice), which include fava beans, peeled twice, lightly dressed with olive oil and salt, and served with little cubes of pecorino cheese, and savory Tuscan meatballs mixed with bread crumbs, porcini, and prosciutto. But save room: Ziskin doles out generous—OK, enormous—main course portions that range from standard steak to more-inventive items like the wood-grilled boar sausage with cannellini beans and pan-seared halibut with mussels, black olives, and tomatoes. Wines, too, are sharply focused, interesting, and well priced. Desserts tend to be afterthoughts, which is just as well. We bet you won’t still be hungry.

First time customer and I am hard to impress when it comes to food. I was astonished with the wood grilled Venison filet and artichoke polenta.. Absolutley delicious. My date had the skirt steak and she didnt leave a bite.. Service was a 9/10. Will return for sure.. A+
