Maxwell's One Forty Eight
Make a Reservation Now
Loquacious servers offer a menu that keeps the restaurant’s two cultures, Italian and Asian, largely separate. A bowl of crab soup is a tribute to Vietnamese pho. On the Italian side, Maxwell's One Forty Eight serves up a garlicky plate of orecchiette with Italian sausage, broccolini, and Romano cheese.

Want to fell like a king & queen for a couple hours then you have to try Maxwells 148. Simply the best food and service my wife and I have had since we moved from Paris 8 years ago. The Uni pasta with scallops was spectacular as well as the king cut rib eye and the Moo Shi Duck appetizer. Maitre d' was fanastic , every staff seemed insync and following his lead. The checf even comes out to speak with everyone. Must try...we cant wait to go back/

Simply marvelous! From the service to the food there was not a flaw to be found. Italian and asian food, most of the reviews refer to Maxwells 148 as fusion but that is just not so.
Owners are personable, staff is superbly trained and the food is rivaled by no other restaurant that we have dined at in Boston. A must try!

In an effort to make this place justify high prices, the service tries to be top notch. While it may appeal to those who fear going into Boston--or even other suburbs--for dinner, the service felt forced and, frankly, not superb. (The Maitre-D actually explained that the center of the duck my wife ordered medium-rare was supposed to be cold, like a steak--only it shouldn't feel like the refrigerator; it should somewhat warm!) The food overall was good and fairly creative, but the entire place needs to be toned down a bit.
