Owner Masa Miyake takes advantage of his proximity to the sea by serving fresh uni from September through April, as well as sushi made with wild salmon, raw quail eggs, or diver scallops, depending on the season. Can't decide? Order his always impeccable omakase (chef's-choice menu).

If you want some good fresh sushi, you've got to try this place out..by far the best Japanese in Portland Maine. I have been to Yosaku, Sapporo, and Benkay.. but Miyake is the best. Excellent service too. Right now it my favorite restaurant in Portland no doubt and by the way, BYOB!

If your visiting maine and you scan the web looking for reviews of restaraunts, there are a lot of mixed reviews about miyake, this is because these reviewers who say negative things are over pretencious and pompous, thinking oh you can't have something so amazing in a place like maine. but to set the records straight, miyake is the best sushi in New England, easy.
