Chef Evan Deluty made his name at the intimate restaurant Torch on Beacon Hill. But his star rose when he opened the bigger, brasher South End trattoria Stella. Fashionistas pack the joint every night and, in summer, spill out onto the patio for prime people-watching. Stella offers urban interpretations of classic Italian peasant fare like spicy sausage and broccoli rabe (served here with sweet, slow-roasted tomatoes), wild-mushroom pizza with a cracker-thin crust and a drizzle of truffle oil, as well as a wonderful version of crudo misto—sliced raw tuna and salmon served with a bright limoncello vinaigrette and a few shavings of nutty Parmesan. The menu strays from its roots for its popular Sunday brunch, where you can find omelets, French toast, and, of course, bloody marys.

i chose this restaurant for my mother and my family to go to for dinner for mothers day. The food was excellent, service was wonderful, and great portions. Definitely check Stella out.

BLAH! That's all I can say about Stella!
The food was ehhh, but not worth the money. The atmosphere was good, great place to hang out with a friend if all you are ordering is a drink, because the food will make you want to stick a finger down your throat. I thought the service was awful, and very rude. The hostess was nice, but the waitstaff and the chef (I think) that came to our table were very rude. I made a comment that my dish was cold when I was asked, and you would have though I shot this guy's grandmother he got so upset at me. But, my food was cold! (and not that good).
They were all worried about about being a politician more than making and serving good food in a timely manner. From what I can tell, a lot of fake people there.
The food also tasted like it was frozen and just re-heated. That's not what I expect for almost $30/plate or so. It just wasn't a good experience.
It's one thing to put on a fake show when the critics are there (I read some really good reviews), but it's another to treat the everyday Joe's the way you treat the food critics. Their facade fooled me, but it won't again.
My advice ... stay away. You're better off at Bertucci's ... Better food, and much better people! I would never give that place my money and business ever again, not the way I was treated.
THUMBS DOWN!
