Call it a big-budget (or bigger budget, anyway) sequel to a cult favorite: The sister location to J.P.'s tiny Ten Tables keeps its marquee star – chef and co-owner David Punch's top-drawer, affordable bistro fare – while adding new cast members. Production values are higher, too, in the form of an expanded menu and a much larger, freshly renovated space in the former Craigie Street Bistrot spot. The ingredient sourcing is meticulous, as diners can choose from organic and biodynamic wines to accompany their crispy Giannone chicken or organic Scottish salmon, but inventive flavor architecture is where Ten Tables truly shines (e.g., chocolate terrine with sea salt and Thai basil ice cream). The good news/bad news caveat? With nearly 50 seats here, you're more likely to get in – and so is everyone else.

I go to Ten Tables EVERY Friday night. Every single Friday, I'm at the chef's table. That is how good Ten Tables is. Sometimes I go twice a week to bring friends. I cannot get enough, and it gets better every time. - Damn this is good. I went to Ten Tables twice a few years back. It was good, but not great. Things have changed. The chef is great, and really cool. If you can sit at the bar, a 2 seater called the 'chef's table,' you get to watch him and his amazing assistants work, and they're good. The first night since my past visits, we got lucky and sat there with no reservations (which is tough, because, yes, there are 10 tables). He was solo that night, and rocked. And he still made sure to chat with us a bit. The prices are astoundingly good. 4 course chef's tasting for $40 bucks? 4 course veggie tasting for $25? And on Wednesdays, the 4 course tasting paired with wine for $39?! That is astounding. They only have a few beers, but fine microbrewed choices fill my quota for good. I wasn't a huge fan of wine, but Ten Tables has changed that, and their selections both taste great and are usually organic or biodynamic! Not a big fan of chicken, but done by this chef, hell yes! So, when i went again my steak was great, and I think it was freerange and no GMO's, which I was impressed with. Fantastic produce, and its quite comfy in there. The entire staff are really into the food and wine too, and so knowledgeable, they make you feel at home, and will give you very detailed descriptions of everything. I can't get enough of this place!
