Arlington’s culinary prospects were once grim, but now, with places like Tryst, owned and operated by Paul Turano, the town has an ambitious dining scene. The convivial spot pulls in Friday and Saturday crowds and even maintains a respectable buzz on weeknights. It’s not hard to see why: The low-lit dining room is filled with graphic art, and the kitchen has a clear commitment to quality ingredients and careful preparations—the Gorgonzola crepe, for instance, is properly thin and rich. Entrées, meanwhile, include hits like sweet grilled salmon, paired nicely with velvety eggplant caponata. It’s a comforting meal—as comforting as Tryst itself.
