Hat Trick

Milliner and native Bostonian Brenda Lynn talks about her new line.

By Rachel Baker

Her hats have crowned such fashion-savvy celebs as Hilary Duff and Mary J. Blige, but Tewksbury native Brenda Lynn didn’t start out on top. In 1989, she left Boston behind for New York City to whip up an assortment full of modern takes on Old Hollywood shapes, eventually sewing her way into Barneys New York. This fall, the department store’s new Copley Place outpost will introduce Lynn’s fall line. The collection includes two different styles—playful knit caps in luxe cashmeres and wools, and sophisticated, hand-sculpted bonnets in jewel-toned velour felt—with a shared inspiration: “They have a New England sensibility, coupled with a New York edge,” Lynn says.
