Bulgari eau parfumée au thé rouge

The sell: Orange and bergamot layered with pink pepper, walnut, and musk. We smell: Hints of green tea, mint, vanilla, and fresh-cut grass that make for an organic-happy trustafarian’s dream. $82 for 3.4 fl. oz., Sephora, The Mall at Chestnut Hill, 617-964-0800.

Sisley soir de lune

The sell: Subtle and personal, fruit-inspired and woodsy. We smell: Something powerful and peppery—and strangely reminiscent of Mom’s old makeup bag. $200 for 3.4 fl. oz., Neiman Marcus, Copley Place, Boston, 617-536-3660.

Juicy Couture Eau De Couture

The sell: “A romantic, flirtatious scent with notes of watermelon, mandarin, and green apple.” We smell: A light, fluffy, and fruity mix for grown-up prom queens. $65 for 1.7 fl. oz., Bloomingdales, The Mall at Chestnut Hill, 617-630-6000.

Gaultier

The sell: A unique unisex potion; a “chiaroscuro of sensual contrasts.” We smell: An unlikely jumble of roses, baby powder, and vanilla cupcakes. Saccharine, yet somehow pleasing. $75 for 2.7 fl. oz., Bloomingdales, The Chestnut Hill Mall. 617-630-6000.

Badgley Mischka

The sell: A stylish and seductive combination of red berries, peach, and white peony. We smell: A fashion editor’s signature scent: a feminine (but not girly) blend of melon, citrus, and spice. $225 for 1 fl. oz., Neiman Marcus, Copley Place, Boston, 617-536-3660.

Lanvin Rumeur

The sell: “Irresistible, attractive, sexy, elegant, mysterious, and enigmatic.” We smell: A serious mix of lilies, magnolias, and roses. One spritz is headier than a funeral parlor bouquet. $50 for 1 fl. oz., Saks Fifth Avenue, Prudential Center, Boston, 617-262-8500.
