For the Vintage Guru
The Garment District

For bold vintage statements like '70s miniskirts and pre-'60s cocktail dresses (many of which cost under $30), the Garment District can't be beat. It's a superior drop-off point after cleaning out a grandmother's attic—and the place to score for those drawn to such quirky pieces. But the contemporary section, with perfect-condition items from American Apparel, old-school Western shirts, and hipster tees priced as low as $10, is also worth a browse. Consigners keep 35 percent of the selling price in cash, or 50 percent in store credit. 200 Broadway, Cambridge, 617-876-5230, garmentdistrict.com.
