Court and Bark

The top area dog parks for meeting a mate.

By Lisa Lombardi

1. Joe Wex Dog Recreation Space
A rare fenced-in spot, the South End’s Joe Wex is a veritable revolving door for dog lovers, so score that number right away if puppy love strikes. Open 6 a.m.–10 p.m., Peters Park, 1277 Washington St., Boston, peterspark.org.

2. Middlesex Fells Reservation
Looking for a little illicit (shush!) off-leash romping? This park’s 10-acre field is a favorite of athletic breeds of both species. Open dawn–dusk, South Border Road, Medford, fells.org.

3. Ronan Park
For those who are shy creatures when it comes to showing affection, weekly group dog walks overlooking scenic Dorchester Bay keep the flirtation alive. 7 p.m. Thursdays, 135 Adams St., Boston, friendsofronanpark.org.

4. Boston Common
Early morning, the Beacon Street side is prime territory for charming, well-bred owners who sip Starbucks as they stroll. Off-leash hours 5–7 a.m. (5–9 a.m. weekends) and 4–8 p.m., Boston, cityofboston.gov/parks.
