French women might not get fat, but they still get cellulite. Now a method that’s all the rage in France for combating dimpled skin has locals shouting, “Magnifique!” Available at Newton Slimming, the FDA-approved Endermologie—reminiscent of the popular ’60s-era waist-slimming belts—promises to smooth the subcutaneous fat in thighs, double chins, and rear ends in 10 to 15 sessions (which are followed by monthly checkups). Clients wear a nylon body suit as Véronique McAleer rolls a massaging device over problem areas. “Pressure is high among French women to keep a slim figure,” says a resident of Newton (by way of Paris). “With time, I’ve lost the fat on my belly and thighs—hallelujah!” Now, if only they could invent instant relief for the champagne hangover.

$45 for 20 minutes, Newton Slimming, 93 Union St., Newton Centre, 617-964-0916, newtonslimming.com.
