Massachusetts General Hospital Nurse Gets the Makeover of a Lifetime

Photo Credit: Mass General Cancer Center

MGH clinician Caitlin Hemeon has been known to go above and beyond when it comes to caring for her patients, even after they’re released from the hospital.

So when she realized that a two-year-old patient she’d become attached to would not have access to the proper environment and extra TLC she would require upon discharge, she contacted the Department of Children and Family Services (DCF) and became a foster parent for the child — who is currently in the care of the state — and made sure the girl would receive the best path forward.

Though her inner beauty already shines through, we wanted to commend the hardworking medical professional for her respectably selfless actions and a job well done with a makeover!

Here’s how we went about her day of R&R:

The Process

To prepare for a day of pampering and the big photoshoot, Caitlin hit the town and visited some of the city’s top beauty experts.

Stop 1: Teeth whitening at Smileboston Cosmetic & Implant Dentistry in Boston

Stop 2: Hair extensions with Lori Hosea

Stop 3: Oxygen facial and eyebrow shaping at Prettyology

Stop 4: Custom airbrush tan with The Sun Tan Van

Stop 5: Outfitting with Pink Tulip in Cohasset

The Shoot: Makeover Day

Caitlin’s morning started out with a blissful spa pampering and hair styling session. Later, the fashionistas from Pink Tulip in Cohasset curated Caitlin’s new wardrobe (with her personal style in mind) for a gorgeous new look.

Bliss Spa believes that happiness is the result of total well-being, and set the perfect scene for Caitlin’s makeover! Located within the luxurious W Hotel, the ultra-clean, high-end spa’s friendly beauticians waited on Caitlin hand and foot, offering a comfortable environment and relaxing spa services including a well-deserved manicure.

A highlight of her day: Later, Caitlin loved having her hair revamped by stylist Lori Hosea. Using luxurious Great Lengths hair extensions — considered to be “The Bentley” of faux tresses — Hosea seamlessly blended the high-end hair product you’d swear was actual hair with Caitlin’s naturally blonde locks.

Caitlin’s makeup and eyelash extensions were applied on-site at the photoshoot by the award-winning expert beauticians of Prettyology. Prior to the shoot, she had an oxygen facial, brow shaping, and tinting performed as well to give her a rejuvenated look.

The Complete Package

Going up: Fresh-faced and fully-transformed, Caitlin struck a pose in her favorite look, which had her popping off even amongst the boldest of backdrops in a Coral Blue Halter Print Top from Analili ($142), BlankNYC Jeans ($88) from Pink Tulip. And that gorgeous bag? From Sara Campbell.

Lori Hosea curled the Cape Cod native’s hair to create loose, beachy wave to match the feel of the outfit, inspired by the ocean.

Look 1:

With a blue shawl and purple tote, Caitlin’s colorful new look is as vibrant as she is.

Ready to roll: Looking confident in her breezy halter, Caitlin sported a black leather backpack by Beckmann — aka the perfect, hands-free accessory for busy, toddler-toting moms on-the-go!

Look 2:

A sophisticated vision in blue, a pair of sparkly stud earrings from Sarah Campbell‘s shop that made the entire look that much more elegant.

Happy hour: Here, Caitlin dazzles with a sophisticated look in a Blue Grommet Dress from Joseph Ribkoff ($235) from Pink Tulip that’s appropriate for after-work martinis and a few laughs with friends.

Look 3:

We love this summery, chic look! Here, Caitlin models a pink and blue Isosceles Dress from Gretchen Scott ($159) from Pink Tulip. Donning a lovely floral print that can be dressed up or down for an afternoon shopping on Newbury Street or a dinner out on the town, it’s a perfect day to evening ensemble.

Still beaming after a teeth whitening with Prosthodontist Steven D. Spitz, DMD of Smileboston Cosmetic & Implant Dentistry in Boston, Caitlin took a moment to flash her newly-restored pearly whites. After all, Smileboston’s favorite saying is “Confidence begins with a great smile.”

Fun fact: Dr. Spitz acts as the dentist to the Boston Red Sox as well as Zoo New England (yes, he even does animal teeth!) Interested in changing your smile too? Smileboston has locations in both Brookline and the South Shore.

Look 4:

Perfectly poised for an evening out, Caitlin looked exceptionally vibrant and pretty in pink (and orange) in this number dubbed the Alice Dress from Escapada ($85) from Pink Tulip and neutral platforms.

As a Cape Cod girl, it’s only appropriate that Caitlin would have a natural bronzed glow in her photos! We enlisted the help of the Sun Tan Van  (a custom spray tan that comes to you!) to give Caitlin that fresh off the beach glow.
