Dr. A. James Moser has dedicated his career to the treatment of patients with diseases of the pancreas, duodenum, and liver, and particularly pancreatic cancer. Dr. Moser is Co-Director of both the Pancreas and Liver Institute, and Pancreatic Cancer Research Programs at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and is Associate Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School. He is an expert in advanced surgical techniques for pancreatic cancer, including major vascular resection, and is an internationally-renowned pioneer in the use of minimally-invasive robotic surgery for these procedures.

Dr. Moser graduated from Princeton University and received his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO. He completed a General Surgery residency and research fellowship in membrane biology at UCLA Center for Health Sciences and UCLA School of Medicine in Los Angeles, CA.

Dr. Moser’s mission is to personalize treatment for patients facing diseases of the pancreas and liver through a combination of multidisciplinary teamwork and the application of cutting edge technologies to diagnose pancreatic cancer at a curable stage and to guide treatment decisions. Dr. Moser leads Project Survival™, a nationwide multicenter research collaboration between BIDMC, The Cancer Research and Biostatistics/Pancreatic Cancer Research Team, and Berg Pharma, utilizing artificial intelligence to identify unique substances (biomarkers) to supercharge early detection and treatment of pancreatic cancer. In parallel, Dr. Moser leads a clinical trial investigating the effects of pancreatic enzymes and improved nutrition among patients receiving surgery and chemotherapy. His team is supported by a large community of grateful patients and families funding patient-centered care for pancreatic cancer through the Alliance of Families Fighting Pancreatic Cancer.
