Martha’s Vineyard

When it comes to charm and tradition, Martha’s Vineyard takes the (wedding) cake. “The combination of history, rolling hills, and the ocean, with what happens when you get all your loved ones on an island for the weekend, creates magical memories,” says Patrie Grace, owner of the Vineyard-based firm With Grace.

LOCATION TO BOOK

Sheep meet the sea at Allen Farm, in quaint Chilmark. “The view is one of the most magnificent sights you could see,” Grace says. Rent out the renovated houses on-site, and guests can wake up to the same vista the next morning.

GATHERING SPOT

Christian Thornton, chef-owner of Atria, grew up on Napa Valley’s Mount Veeder, which explains the extensive California-focused wine list at his Edgartown restaurant.

GUEST EXCURSION

Adventure seekers should reserve a spot on Captain Buddy Vanderhoop’s Tomahawk Charters, out of Menemsha. A true island celebrity, Vanderhoop has been catching striped bass and bluefish off Martha’s Vineyard for more than 45 years, and has even fished with big names like Spike Lee and Keith Richards.
